According to wikipedia, the webisodes were supposed to premiere in Fall 2007. There were delays due to the writers strike in 2008 and on June 10th 2009 Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune via Twitter said they were "still in play" and still being developed, but not yet at the script stage.
Two years have passed and I call horseshit. I think this is more of a stunt to dangle a carrot in front of fans and keep them talking online just to keep the name Farscape in the online loop of boards like this. Plus, it's free advertisement for the comic - "well, no new webisodes, but there is a comic..." Personally, I've never been a fan of webisodes; at 3-5 minutes apiece with a combined total of maybe 40-50 minutes you've got one episode. Of what? Old Farscape? New Farscape? What they want a new Farscape to be? LAME. The writers strike 2008 holding things up is more horseshit. Why? If that's the case, get someone to pen them that isn't a member of the guild. Or Brian Henson and Rockne O'Bannon could revoke their guild membership. Or write it under psuedonyms. There are many ways aound this so I call horseshit. Finally, how can something that is less than an hour long and in 3 or 6 minute increments still not be in the script stage after 2 years? I'll tell you how - they aren't going to do them and never had any real desire to do them. If the creators were really that hardcore about doing them they would have already. It isn't like the Henson company is broke; these webisodes could have been done on a shoestring budget and just "put out there". But they haven't. The writer's strike didn't prevent Joss Whedon from doing Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. And he was quite successful. Why? 'Cause he wanted to do it, thats why. So yes I'm calling you out Brian Henson and Rockne O'Bannon and I'm calling horseshit. |

I'd written these off as TV vaporware over a year ago. I just don't see them seriously being able to regather the various cast members after this long with nothing other than "yeah you're going to be in a bunch of 3 minute internet clips that almost nobody will ever see". It just seems logistically improbable to say the least.
If they really narrowed the focus down to just a few characters maybe they could pull it off but if they do that it'll probably end up sucking as a result so it's pretty much lose/lose. Their choice of subjects to focus on with the comics have thus far not exactly impressed me either. |

I read on another forum that at comicon, Henson said the webisodes will be made. They take place after the comics, though not necessarily as part of a linear storyline, and focus on the adventures of Crichton, Aeryn, and their son. Characters introduced in the comics appear in the webisodes.
As Henson said this, Browder and Black mimiced walking in walkers, haha. |
